It’s noon and your stomach is telling you that it’s time for lunch. If you need to buy a lunch, this is a list of places to eat on and around campus.
Shell Cafe
The Shell Café next to the Seashell Lobby in McDonnell Science is open Monday-Friday, and serves breakfast from 7:00 am until 11 am, and lunch until 2:30 pm, and is operated by Bon Appetit cafes. Choices include a deli, grill, salad bar, pizza, and entrees, along with prepackaged items such as salad and yogurt. The week’s offerings are posted outside the entrance and on the company website.
FLTC Cafe
FLTC Café, is located on the first floor of the Farrel Learning and Teaching Center. Also operated by Bon Appetit, this café features sandwiches, sweets, and hot beverages. The FLTC café is open Mon-Fri: 6:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
Farmstead Cafe
Farmstead Cafe is located on the first floor the the Pediatrics building and it focuses on local, vegan, and allergen-free foods. The Farmstead café serves breakfast Mon-Fri: 7am – 11am and lunch 11am – 5pm.
Ritazza Coffee
There are two Ritazza coffee vendors on the medical campus. One is tucked around the corner from the main lobby of Barnes-Jewish Hospital south (just inside of the walkway to the garage) and the other is in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine (CAM). Open Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., they offer coffee and espresso drinks as well as dessert-style snacks and treats.
Children’s Hospital Cafeteria
The cafeteria in St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) is also a popular stop. Choices there include a deli, grill, salad bar, Pizza Hut personal pan pizzas and Dairy Queen ice cream. SLCH serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a 30 percent discount after 4 p.m. with a student ID. It is open daily from 6:00 am to 2:30 am.
Barnes-Jewish Cafe
Barnes-Jewish Hospital south also has a cafeteria, open from morning through night. No discount here, but in addition to the standard cafeteria fare, it offers several specialty items. Barnes-Jewish Cafeteria south, Daily: 5:45 a.m.–1:30 a.m., but entree line closed 4–4:45 p.m. and 7:30–8:45 p.m.
Food Truck Row
For a more varied selection, a number of food trucks frequent the medical campus and park from 11 am to 1 pm across from the Couch Building. There are often 4-5 choices. Keep up with your favorite eateries on twitter, or go to Show Me Food Trucks to keep track of which trucks are where in an easy-to-read format.
Off Campus
The food options here tend to close before we head out of lab, and we know that some days can be late. If you head up Euclid there are many restaurants for you to grab some grub.
